Register Now for the MeeGo 2011 Conference in San Francisco

We're looking forward to seeing you in San Francisco for the Spring 2011 conference being held May 23-25! But before you click the "Register" link, we wanted you to know about a few changes we've made to the registration system, based on feedback from last year's Dublin event.

Before registering, there are some things you should know:

• If you have a meego.com account, logging in before you start the conference registration process will prepopulate your email in the conference registration form.
• If you do not have a meego.com account, that is fine too. Go through the conference registration process and a meego.com account will be created for you. You will receive two confirmations emails:
  1. Confirmation of meego.com account creation
  2. Confirmation of conference registration

Once you have both confirmations you can log in to your meego.com account at http://sf2011.meego.com and submit your proposal, or t-shirt design, or sign up for any additional activities we have on the conference site.

Modifying or canceling a conference registration

You can modify or cancel your registration by logging back into the conference registration form and providing your email and reference # (both given in your conference registration confirmation email).

Registration Categories

There are four different attendee categories: Sponsor Company Attendee, Speaker, Press, and General Attendee. These attendee categories are defined below.

• Sponsor Company Attendee: This category is specified for different sponsor types, which include Platinum, Gold, Silver, Host-Intel, Host-Nokia, and Additional Sponsors. If you are unsure whether the company you are affiliated with is sponsoring this event, check the Sponsors page. If your company is sponsoring, you will have special access as a sponsoring company attendee and will need to register by contacting the person who is leading your companies attendance, which is updated on the website.
• Speaker: This category is specified for speakers. If you have submitted a proposal, you will be contacted once proposals have been approved and given a special code for speaker status. Please expect to see an email from the program committee organizers for an invitation to register with this pass-code, if you are accepted as a speaker.
• Press: This category is for press. We are asking that all press requests go through Jennifer Cloer for a media registration code. This ensures badges reflect status as press, and guarantees priority seating at any press-related activities.
• General Attendee: This category is for anyone who would like to attend and is not affiliated with any of the above categories.

Conference Warm-up

Conference warm-up will happen at the Hyatt (Conference venue) on Saturday May 20 - Sunday May 21. Details for the warm-up will be sent to you, if you select that you are attending the warm-up in the registration, and will also be on the MeeGo Conference planning wiki.

Sponsored Travel Assistance

In the registration, there is also an area where you can request sponsored travel assistance. The MeeGo project recognizes the importance of face-to-face interaction, and also realizes that not every participant can be funded by their employers to attend or can pay their own travel. To encourage quality collaboration, there is limited need-based travel assistance available to defray the cost of attending. Travel sponsorships will cover hotel and, optionally, airfare. Meals outside of the conference, baggage fees, ground transportation, parking, hotel fees except the room rate and taxes, and incidentals will be the responsibility of the individual.

To be eligible for travel assistance, you must:

• Have a record of meaningful contribution to the MeeGo project.
• Confirm that you have asked your employer for sponsorship, and been turned down.
• Not be a member of a company sponsoring the event.
• Agree to blog about your experience at the event.
• Request reimbursement for airfare within two weeks after the last day of the event.

We would like to be clear on the process hotel and travel will be covered:
1. Register and request travel assistance

2. Book a hotel during your registration process and provide your credit card to hold the room (this will not be charged, unless you do not cancel by May 9th, 2011).

3. If you are approved to receive travel assistance we will put your room on our master bill, so you will not have to do anything to your reservation/registration, and will not need to request a reimbursement for it, we will provide a list of approved sponsored travel attendees to the hotel. To be reimbursed for airfare costs, you will receive instructions on how to do so and will need to submit within two weeks after the conference.

4. If you are not approved to receive travel assistance please cancel your room by May 9th, 2011 to avoid any cancellation fees.

5. The deadline to apply for sponsored travel is April 15th, 2011 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.

Hotel options and details are all located on the Hotel section in logistics portion on the conference website and you can choose the hotel that best fits your needs in the registration form.
