  • MeeGo.com offers a broad range of infrastructure for Open Source developers to build, test and publish their applications. This session will give insight into how you, as a developer, can benefit from this service. It will clearly explain how and where to go to get started.

  • Bugzilla Automated Metrics revamped, Bugzilla Unified Dashboard revealed and how to write a Bugzilla extension for MeeGo in no time!

    Testing and Bug Tracking
  • MeeGo is a truly global platform and users expect applications developed for MeeGo to be properly localized and internationalized. Fortunately, MeeGo's use of the Qt toolkit makes localization much more painless than on many other platforms. This presentation will cover the best practices for localizing applications that are written for MeeGo using Qt, whether using C++ or QML-based Qt Quick. It will cover the basics as well as more advanced topics.

  • A lot of application/platform developers already have JavaScript bindings for their software and are planning to write their UIs using QML. However QML does not offer, out of the box, a way to reuse your existing JavaScript bindings and this can become an issue as the developer would like to benefit from all those bindings. This session will guide the developer through the needed steps in order to enable the use of these bindings and will discuss the presented solution.

    Qt Quick for App Development
  • An open and interactive discussion on how to improve error management in MeeGo. All the MeeGo EM team members will participate and address your questions. This is a great opportunity to get direct MeeGo user feedback on how errors are handled, how Bugzilla and Featurezilla are used, how we can together make the overall process and practices a better experience. Come and talk with us!

  • Documentation is the window through which most people usually first view a piece of software. Smooth, intuitive UIs and accurate, precise error reporting stand little chance of hitting their target without the aid of a few well planned sentences outlining intended use cases, important features, and usage instructions. Conversely, documentation that is overly verbose, vague, or misdirected encourages blind experimentation at best, and more likely abandonment. This session seeks to identify traits of good documentation for use in the development process and eventual target use. Potential points of discussion also include areas where MeeGo isn't making the grade, and what can be done to remedy the situation. Comparisons with iOS, Android, and other competitors are welcome and encouraged.

  • MeeGo is more than just software - it's also people and organisations. This BoF session invites those people from those organisations (and anyone interested in the MeeGo :: Vendor interface) to come along and shape how MeeGo and the vendors should manage the ecosystem around MeeGo. Given that MeeGo's customers are mainly device vendors it's important that everyone can communicate with and respond to each other - both across that customer interface and with peers. Goals include: establish an open vendor ecosystem; identify key interface areas; collect proposals for improved working practices

  • A BoF for discussing sensor handling in MeeGo. Sensor framework is the component acting behind the scenes of QT-Mobility sensor API. Goal for this session is to gather and discuss ideas and suggestions on how sensor framework would best serve application and system development requirements. Interesting topics include adaptability, data flow properties, configurability, hot-pluggability, etc. Any fresh viewpoints and visions are highly appreciated.

  • Today's software market is a tough competiting environment. It requires from the developer not only demanded functionality and clever marketing, but also fluid user experience and attractive user interface design. This talk will give you a detailed overview of latest trends in UI/UX design for all major mobile platforms, such as smartphones, tablets and netbooks. Rated "E" for everyone. check the details for the most interesting part!

  • Birds of a feather discussion on the evolution of the MeeGo SDK and how to transform it into a top notch application development platform. We are looking for a lively discussion with like minded individuals who have knowledge of the SDK, competitive SDKs, and great ideas on how to improve. What is of critical need in order to continue the development of the SDK going forward?

  • Looking for contributors interested in creating the next generation Media Center app for MeeGo devices! Come and contribute your input, participate in a requirements and roadmap discussion, and talk with the main contributors of QtMediaHub. This is an open discussion, so all are welcome! There is a related talk you should check out as well: http://sf2011.meego.com/program/sessions/qtmediahub-implementation-xbmc-inspired-media-player-qml

  • In a big and complex project with a large number of people involved like MeeGo, it's never an easy task to report bugs to right component and triage bugs to right owner accurately. This BOF is to discuss the enhancement that we can do in MeeGo Bugzilla Enhancement and bug triage process to facilitate the bugs' disposition. An idea of package based structure has been implemented as prototype, which will be demonstrated in the BOF. Any feedbacks and refresh viewpoints to make it better and put it in use are highly appreciated.

  • MeeGo is (or should be) aimed at vendors : this BoF is about continually validating that goal. It will discuss extending the "DE Project Vision" to include "Be a reference vendor". We will identify deliverables such as documentation about processes, organisational layout and tool usage. We will identify how we test, challenge and improve the MeeGo <-> Vendor interface in the open. See: http://mer-l-in.blogspot.com/2011/04/meego-de-that-is-how-you-do-it.html

  • Local MeeGo network meeting are taking place in at least 17 countries and 3 continents. This session's intent is to gather people involved in various local MeeGo networks and share experiences and ideas on arranging local meetups. For those who are unfamiliar with local network activities the BoF gives a great opportunity to learn about them.

  • Hey users of development boards like Pandaboard, Snowball, Beagleboard, Gumstix and Atom, let's gather and share best practices and tips. Attendees are encouraged to show off boards that they bring along or just to describe their projects. Representatives of the board manufacturers and accessory makers are invited to attend. The session will collate and publish group feedback about what kind of boards, accessories and software tools developers most need and want.

  • Bringing MeeGo QA people together. The idea for this BoF is simply to give an opportunity for QA people (and people interested in QA) meet in real life and discuss whatever QA related things. It usually helps people to work together after they have met in person. If someone wants to discuss about something specific that requires preparations please send an email about it to meego-qa mailing list. What's on topic in this BoF? Anything MeeGo QA related.

  • Release Engineering teams and the processes they establish are extremely important for getting code into MeeGo efficiently while maintaining the utmost quality. They are the center entity that go between development, QA, and the program office. Here we discuss ideas and thoughts on the current practices, what has been working, and what we can improve to make MeeGo stronger and more agile when it comes to release processes.

  • Browsing the World Wide Web is a key use-case for any MeeGo installation. Web engines provide mobile specific features to improve the end-user experience, allowing content providers to optimize their content for various device profiles. In this BoF session we would like to facilitate a discussion around mobile features as well as their implementation aspects in engines. This will be a great opportunity for browser developers to share knowledge for improving the mobile web experience in MeeGo, as well as discussing the different browser options. After all, nobody wants to reinvent the wheel!

  • The start of work on Qt 5 has been announced and its designs are pretty close to what MeeGo has required. The announced focus on Wayland, for example, has been expected for some time. Yet, achieving Qt 5 and then integrating it into MeeGo will not be a simple task. In this BoF session, we'd like to discuss with the community how to achieve that together, how to make one project benefit the other.

  • One of the many challenges in most Open Source projects lies in the nature of a distributed team. Communication is usually less straight forward than among people who share an office, and creativity takes a detour. What to do? Put them in a room together! In this presentation, I will share my experiences with organizing and running developer meetings of different sizes and introduce the thoughts and concepts behind the Qt Contributors' Summit.
