BoF: Women (and other minorities) of MeeGo aka "Here Be Unicorns"

Session Summary:
Women are the Invisible Pink Unicorns of Open source software, and to enable input from a wide area of contributors women are in a key position. BoF: Women of MeeGo collects women and other minority members contributing or even just interested in MeeGo and related open source projects to check what the status quo of MeeGo is and how we can draft more people of any gender, race, ability and social background to make MeeGo rock!
Session Abstract:

this free form discussion is mainly about women and other minority members (disabilities, languages, you name it!) in MeeGo and the surrounding open source projects. Some topics of discussion could include

  • Accessibility of the Community,
  • Current community guidelines,
  • Hic sunt leones - unchartered and unventured waters of MeeGo
  • future roadmap

Accessibility of the community

What makes MeeGo project accessible for women and other minorities of the open source software community? Is our community and project accessible? What are making the attendance difficult?

Current community guidelines

Does the current community guidelines fullfill their purpose for enabling and encouraging minority groups participation? What should and could be changed?

Hic sunt leones - unchartered and unventured waters of MeeGo

What obvious areas of involvement have been so far ignored or unnoticed by the majority of the community and how could we help? Accessibility, translations, graphics, advocacy?

Future roadmap

How are we going to continue our efforts in the future?
